The new Apley House administration building at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath scooped two awards at the 2015 South West Built Environment Awards, winning both the ‘Innovation’ and ‘Value’ award categories. Designed by Bath-based architects SRA using their innovative Öppen building method, approximately 650m² of Gebrik was used to match the adjacent Bath stone buildings.

Installed by specialist cladding contractor CRL Facades, the façade was clad and ready for pointing in just eight full working days. The rapid installation delivered a staggering 40% reduction in build time and 15% reduction in capital costs compared to traditional construction methods and the hospital was provided with a durable, flexible and cost-effective building within four months of starting on site.
