- Panels are available in stretcher bond and stack bond incorporating the following brick sizes.
- 215mm long x 65mm wide (Gebrik UK) - 240mm long x 52/66/89/130mm wide - 265mm long x 127.5mm wide (Gecaro - stack bond only)
- Numerous corner types are factory-produced to suit external returns and opening reveals, eg jambs, soffits, etc.
- Fixings are galvanized or stainless steel with 4.6mm to 4.9mm diameter screws and 11mm diameter conical headed TORX30 heads. They are available in lengths of 100mm, 120mm, 140mm, 160mm, 180mm, 200mm and 220mm and are boxed in 100s. The Gebrik system should only be fixed using Gebrik screws, which are drilled through up to 18no pre-located fixing holes visible in the brick joints. The number of fixings for standard panels depends on the height of the building (h) and the wind pressure (W) on the finished assembly:
Approx Fixing Guide:
If h > 10 metres and W < 2.3 KNm² use 9no fixings (3 rows of 3)
If h > 10 & < 18 metres and W < 2.565 KNm² use 12no fixings (4 rows of 3 or 3 rows of 4)
If h > 18 & < 50 metres and W < 2.831 KNm² use 16no fixings (4 rows of 4)
- Gebrik expanding polyurethane foam is used to fill joints between adjacent panels and ensure the system remains watertight and thermally efficient.
- Brick slips are supplied to infill where panels abut and maintain a stretcher bond.
- An aluminium starter rail ensures the system is thoroughly sealed at the base and to provide a horizontal datum.
- Slips are applied with a pre-batched 3-component adhesive mixed on site in dry conditions.
- Panels are to be pointed with an approved mortar mixture, not less than 10 days after installation. The mortar mix should be 2 volumes dredged river sand: 1volume 2mm fine sand: 1 volume cement.
