In March 2003, the majority of Glasgow's social housing stock was transferred from Glasgow City Council to Glasgow Housing Association (GHA). Since then approx £500M has been spent refurbishing, regenerating and generally improving the quality of housing for Glasgow's tenants. To date, over 17000 properties have been overclad and Gebrik has been supplied to various sites throughout Glasgow to provide a durable, watertight external skin which improves not only the general appearance of the aging housing stock but also the thermal performance.
GHA use a variety of materials within their total palette of external finishes and Gebrik is included as it can be applied in most weather conditions - a real benefit considering the exposure of most sites to the weather conditions in the west of Scotland! Gebrik can also be used up to 18 storeys so it is an ideal solution for overcladding the high tenement blocks that were built 50 years ago.
