Working with specialist fast-track building supplier, ModuleCo, Aquarian Cladding has supplied its Gebrik insulating brick cladding system to hospital development projects in both Lincoln and Burton.
At Queen's Hospital in Burton, ModuleCo was appointed in June 2010 to provide a new building which would enable the paediatric clinic to be relocated adjacent to the existing children's ward. The challenge was to position it within a land-locked courtyard and have it usable within four months! Nine prefabricated ‘pods’ were lifted and dropped into position by crane to create a two storey building which was then clad to match the existing polychromatic brickwork within the courtyard.
Aquarian Cladding worked with specialist contractor EAGA to design yellow brick panels with string courses of red bricks to match the existing brickwork and finally approx 300m² of Amari Yellow and Carmesi Red panels, corners and reveals were applied over four weeks to ensure the building was completed on programme.
