Brayford Quays is a purpose-built student accommodation development located in an exclusive waterfront location in Lincolnshire. The local planners were insistent that the building had a brick façade, however traditional brickwork would have added to the structural load on the building's revolutionary steel framing, and therefore the costs of the project. Site access and storage were restricted and the deadline, the start of the new term, was absolute.

For all these reasons, Gebrik was considered the perfect solution. It reduced the number of deliveries from 30 (had traditional brick been used) to 11, and because the system can be installed in any weather, the build schedule could be maintained whatever the Lincolnshire skies had to offer!

Three different brick finishes were supplied totaling 5000m² and the cladding package was completed in just over 2 months by ECL, one of the UK's leading specialist cladding contractors. The building achieved an extremely low U-value of 0.193W/m²K.

Architect Noel Cryer of Design Büro was pleased with the results. "It was the developer who originally chose Gebrik, and my initial concern was the difficulty in matching the system to adjacent brickwork. However all the feedback from the site was positive, and the high speed and ease of installation will ensure we consider using Gebrik on our future projects."
