March 2011 - Aquarian Cladding Secures Travelodge Booking.
Aquarian Cladding has secured a contract to supply the company's Gebrik insulating brick cladding system for a new £4m Travelodge development in Birmingham.
Scheduled for completion in autumn 2011, the project has been designed by architects The Harris Partnership and will deliver an 88 bedroom Travelodge and Tesco Express in Carrs Lane, Birmingham.
The building is being erected on the site of a Victorian red brick building which was demolished in 1988 and features a five storey timber frame structure which will be clad with a combination of metal rainscreen and Gebrik cladding.
To complement the modern, crisp design of the building a combination of 510m² of Gebrik Royal Engobed and 120m² of Gebrik Sintra Terracotta Linguro has been specified; Royal Engobed has a striking black glazed finish, whilst the weathered red multi Sintra Terracotta has been chosen to complement the surrounding area.
Commenting on the project, Paul Richards, Managing Director at Aquarian Cladding said: "We're delighted to be involved in such a prestigious project. The balance of the two brick finishes specified for the scheme will deliver a striking effect, providing an elegant aesthetic solution which will perfectly complement both the other materials selected for the project and the adjacent buildings".
Work is currently underway on site with Gebrik scheduled to be delivered in early May.
