July 2011 - Range of New Orders for Gebrik.
In recent months, Aquarian Cladding has secured a range of new orders for its Gebrik insulating brick cladding system - with projects to be delivered for both new and existing clients.
Over the summer months and with tight schedules, two schools are to be clad in Gebrik. For Stanley Park School, a new-build project in Carshalton, a combination of smooth blue and grey glazed bricks has been specified to produce an interesting aesthetic design for the school's facades. The second scheme, Park Community College in Havant, follows the pattern of an earlier project for Hampshire County Council, with Gebrik used to over-clad the school's existing brickwork, providing improved insulation and breathing new life into a tired building.
Keeping with the education theme, Gebrik has once more been specified for use at Reading University. Working again with architect Stride Treglown, main contractor Morgan Sindall and cladding contractor ECL, the second phase of student accommodation provision on the campus will see a total of approx 4,500m² of Gebrik supplied in a combination of Slate Smooth Blue and Amsterdam Yellow finishes. This will take the total volume of Gebrik supplied for this programme of works to over 13,000m², making it the company's largest project to date.
Specialist student accommodation provider Unite has also elected to use Gebrik again on a new project. Following the success of the company's Woodland Court scheme, over 2,500m² of Gebrik Primula Stock bricks have been selected for the Conran-designed Moonraker Alley development in Southwark, London. Working closely with unitisation specialist McMullen Architectural, Aquarian will be supplying Gebrik to their factory in Northern Ireland where the brick cladding components will be applied to create unitised units, including glazing. The units will also be pre-pointed and then assembled on site - this approach was required because of the tight programme and the lack of access to the outside of the building.

In Windsor, Gebrik has also been specified for the Oakbridge Day Centre project, where FE90-60 Ardor Red Dragwire and FE90-20 Amari Dragwire are being used to over-clad the existing, failed brickwork on the building. Here the client has experienced cracking in the traditional brick work of an existing building due to failure in the foundations and required a lightweight brick facade to overclad the building, whilst keeping the day care building in daily operation.
At Fieldgate Street in London Aquarian has been working closely with Axis Architects and Mace and has developed its Smooth Slate Blue Brindle by adding a dragwire texture to suit planning requirements; the product will be on site in August.
Finally, the company has secured an order for another school project with Balfour Beatty - having already worked with them on five schools in Knowsley, Aquarian will be supplying approximately 750m² of FE90-20 Amari Dragwire for use in Stoke on Trent; and having completed a large scheme for Henley Homes at Furrow Lane in London which used 1,000m² of SR12-03 Slate Blue Brindle Smooth, the company has now secured another order from the developer to supply its Primula Stock brick for a new-build housing scheme at New Cross in London.
Commenting on the news, Aquarian Cladding's Managing Director, Paul Richards said: "Naturally I'm delighted that we have secured such a wide range of new orders, particularly as a number of them are from clients with whom we have already completed projects. Gebrik is now a proven, attractive and versatile material, delivering a wide range of performance, aesthetic, construction and value benefits and we look forward to delivering high quality cladding solutions for each of these new projects".
