The Gecaro Insulating Terracotta System is manufactured by Isosystems using a production technique similar to Gebrik. The system consists of 265 x 127.5mm terracotta tiles cast in polyurethane, in factory controlled conditions, to form sheets measuring 1375mm long x 687mm high. The durable panels can be mechanically fixed to most substrates, including concrete and clay masonry, or timber and steel frame, potentially without the need for a cavity.
Tiles are available in a wide range of natural clay colours or can be supplied glazed or engobed if required, to produce lightweight panels in a stack bond format and create the contemporary appearance of terracotta rainscreen. With a full range of factory-produced or site-applied components to suit external corners, surrounds to window or door openings and any other abutments, the system can cater for most architectural designs.
Gecaro is an excellent alternative to conventional terracotta rainscreen systems and will significantly reduce wall thickness, loadings on the structure, installation time and associated costs when compared to conventional terracotta rainscreen systems.
It is simple to design and build with Gecaro and detailing is similar in principle to Gebrik. We have produced a standard set of technical details for Gebrik, and the design principles can also be used for Gecaro. Details are available to download in PDF or please contact us if Autocad files are required.
Installation of Gecaro is also similar in principle to Gebrik and the specialist cladding contractors are capable of installing either system. The installation process is relatively straightforward but as is the case with any system, it is imperative that the manufacturers instructions are followed to ensure validity of certification, insurance and most importantly the long term durability of your building.
Gecaro has been fully tested and is included within the Gebrik BBA and CWCT certificate and report for use onto clay, concrete, light gauge steel frame and timber frame substrates, with and without cavities. It is supplied with a 10 year insurance-backed warranty provided the system is applied in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
