Gebrik is an Insulating Brick Cladding System, invented, patented and manufactured in Belgium since 1982. It has since been used throughout Europe to clad in excess of 40,000 different buildings, whether for refurbishment or new-build and the oldest example of Gebrik in the UK can be seen in Barnsley, where the system was used in approx 1992.
The system consists of over 250 different natural clay brick finishes, in a range of sizes, cast in polyurethane under factory controlled conditions. Non load-bearing, lightweight stretcher or stack-bond panels are produced to create approx 1m² ‘sheets’ which can be screwed directly to either masonry, timber or steel frame substrates on site.
The animation of how panels are formed cannot be displayed as Flash/Javascript is either disabled in your browser or not installed. To install the Adobe flash player please use the following link:
With a full range of factory-produced or site-applied components to suit external corners, surrounds to window or door openings and any other abutments, the system can cater for most architectural designs. In fact, it could be said that as the system is non load-bearing the limits to the use of the system are limited to an Architect's imagination!
Gebrik's insulating properties will help to significantly improve the thermal performance of your building and can reduce a buildings U-value by up to 60%. It will also protect your building from water penetration by site application of foam into chambers where components abut, to ensure your façade remains impervious to water, yet still allows the wall to breathe.
It is simple to design and build with Gebrik and we have produced a standard set of technical details to suit various applications which are available to download in PDF or please contact us if Autocad files are required.
With regards installation, we have identified, trained & certified specialist cladding contractors to install Gebrik and are building a national coverage of experts capable of providing design, costs and installation expertise on projects of varying sizes. The installation process is relatively straightforward but as is the case with any system, it is imperative that the manufacturers instructions are followed to ensure validity of certification, insurance and most importantly the long term durability of your building.
Gebrik has been fully tested and has received ‘certification’ from BBA and CWCT for use onto clay, concrete, light gauge steel frame and timber frame substrates, with and without cavities. It is supplied with a 10 year insurance-backed warranty provided the system is applied in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
